Australia's Great Natural Wonder.!

Management

Responsibility, establishment, planning, running and management for the Great Barrier Reef is controlled by the Great Barrier Reef park authorities. (A Commonwealth Government Agency) Within management there are smaller managements where groups of people of all different ages and experiences make choices.

The Queensland Parks and wildlife service is responsible for the running of the reef on a daily basis. This involves communicating with the public community about there personal opinions about the reef and environment.

Enviromental impact. These people monitor weather conditions and see the effect that the weather may be having on the reef. Assessment, monitoring and surveillance are taken care of, with people assesing the damage that visitors may have because they are visiting on a dailt basis. They watch over and ensure that nobody is visiting the Reef with no permission, and they make sure that nobody is over fishing, fishing without a license and or fishing in a non fishing areas. But over 95% of the reef is open to the public for general use (sight seeing) and only a few areas are prohibited to the public.

Due to the Great Barrier Reef being so big, monitoring and ensuring that scientists and biologists are well aware of what is happening different groups are assigned to different areas of the bay. This allows the reef to have constant surveillance and monitoring, so what ever problem is in the bay it is easy to be notified of it, because different groups are managing different areas.

But in saying all of this The Great Barrier Reef is everybody’s responsibility, when and if you go to the reef make sure you listen to your guide and follow all of their rules, and don’t break the coral of to take home with you. Be happy that you where able to enjoy it and allow the future generations to enjoy it also.
